Happy 24th Birthday, Jessi!
A friend of ours recently turned 24, so we had some friends over to our house for a little birthday celebration. Of course, I was in charge of dessert. I made a cake pop bouquet for the party, which included red velvet and vanilla cake pops. By the end of the night, there was only one lonely cake pop left. It was a good time with friends and a great dinner with one dish prepared or brought by each person. Take a look below for some pictures of the cake pop bouquet! Mr. & Mrs. David Hurtado: Julia and David are married!
David is an Attorney at the law office I previously worked at, and Julia is his new wife. From the first day David started at the firm, he was funny, and it was good to have someone around the office we could joke around with. I first met Julia at a party she threw for David when he passed the bar and became an Attorney! She was so sweet and welcoming, and I liked her from the start! They are perfect together, and I feel their personalities really compliment one another. And no, I am not just saying that! :)
I brought some cake pops to work one day, and David mentioned he and Julia might want to order some for their candy buffet. I was so excited! Julia ordered 10 dozen chocolate pops with blue candy and green sprinkles. They turned out lovely, and they fit right in on the buffet. I love candy!
We were lucky enough to be guests at the wedding as well, so it was a real treat. The weather was perfect, the ceremony was beautiful, and the venue, Anthony's Fine Dining, was great. It was an all-around wonderful day!
Take a look below for some pictures of the big day! Congrats, Mr. & Mrs. Hurtado!

Yum! Pound Cake Southern Style!
| I absolutely love Southern Living Magazine! On the most recent cover, there was a large strawberry pound cake pictured, and I just had to buy the issue. There is an article offering the recipes for several delicious pound cakes, and I went to work making the Strawberry Swirl Cream Cheese Pound Cake. I was slightly scared when the recipe starts off telling you to add THREE FULL STICKS OF BUTTER to your mixer; however, everything is okay in moderation, right? My husband and I had a relaxing Saturday filled with yard work, cleaning up the house and me in the kitchen baking the cake below and Grandma's chicken casserole for dinner. You can find the recipe here: Southern Living Recipe! |

PeachyKeenCakery's First "Official" Wedding Order!
Today I had the pleasure of meeting with Dabe Patterson and discussing a custom cake pop order for her bridal tea and "goodie bags", if you will, for her out of town guests, and let me just say, I am so excited!!!
It was so great to meet with her and watch this idea I had for selling sweet treats start coming to life! It is awesome talking to a bride that knows what she wants! I remember when I was working on my wedding details, and at times, I had no idea what I wanted!
I think Dabe was my good luck charm because I received two other orders after I talked to her! I cannot wait to make the cake pops for her AND to share in her special day.
Tonight I am going to attempt peanut butter pops...omg, I cannot wait to see how they turn out!
Talk to you soon-

Off to the cabin we go...Blue Ridge, Georgia!
Before this past weekend, I would have told you I really don't enjoy sitting in the wilderness and listening to the sounds of nothing. I am normally a very active person, and I need to be moving at all times. We went to Blue Ridge, GA this past weekend with a group of friends, and we literally spent several hours just sitting on the porch. We were just sitting there listening to the sounds of nothing. We talked a little bit, but it was such a great experience just being out there where it was calm and peaceful.
We also ate some candy, cake pops, enchiladas and big breakfasts of eggs, bacon and biscuits. The game of Taboo was a group favorite, and it was an all-around great time.
I would highly recommend a trip to downtown Blue Ridge as well. They had some really great shops, where we purchased a kit for making s'mores! It was a hit!
It was an excellent weekend. Now back to baking for an upcoming wedding!

The new 'face' of Peachy Keen Cakery!
Okay, I know you might be expecting a picture of me to pop up somewhere in this post, but I am talking about a different kind of face...
All I can think about lately is how things will look, like my website and logo. I also keep wondering, are people going to like my products? Well, I had a dream the other night, and I SAW my logo. I saw it right there in the dream, but when I woke up I was worried that I would not be able to find someone that could recreate that idea. Okay, I know you are thinking, it's not that intricate but STILL, I just had to have it.
Check out the new logo:
Logo created by Tomeko Houston. Amazing!
I absolutely love it! I saw it, and I was literally jumping up and down at my desk. I am so excited to reveal our website to you in a few weeks, days however long it takes, and I am hoping you will all continue to follow me along on this journey.
